This book is great at not only having tons of delicious recipes that I will actual use and make, but provides usefull information about using the Instant Pot.My girlfriend and I have already used several recipes for tasty dishes. All of the other books we checked out were not worth purchasing. One had several errors, like they forgot to list cream cheese in the ingredients for a cheesecake. I have not found any errors in this book.

While it is ok, I'm just a C++ Lover, so I wish everything was in C++.The real meat of the book starts in Chapter 5 in terms of gestures and postures.Also, the price of the book here in amazon makes it extremely tempting to buy it. It is only 17.

Excellent book for an old time favorite

First off let me say that I am one of the biggest Metroid fans out there and Super Metroid is my favorite game ever and if you are writing a book about it, it demands perfection!! I was really excited when I saw that this book came out, and wanted to add it to my collection, so I bought it only to be a little disappointed. The information in this book is good, the layout is something to be a little desired for, but the pictures are very nice and clear and sometimes helpful. My main issue with the book is the multiple spelling errors, misinformation and facts that make it loose 3 stars. Right off the bat on the first page there are spelling errors, it is very unprofessional and makes me think that the author did not go back and reread everything to make sure that everything was correct or gave it to someone to check these basic things.For example, on the "Boss page" for Draygon, in one of the sentences he calls the creature Draygon and Dragon in the same sentence. Which is it? He also calls it a "He" when in fact it is female. Not only that, the author says that one of her attacks is that she picks Samus up and slams her against the wall. This is misinformation and untrue. Draygon does NOT do that and rather slams Samus with her tail. It is also mentioned that "green balls" come out from the wall. Like rubber balls? No these are energy balls.There are tips all over the book which is a nice touch, but I really thing more research would benefit. For example it says that Gunpei Yokoi was the only creator of Metroid when in fact it was a team of 4 people who came up with the franchise.Yes you may think these are nitpicking aspects but it is riddled all throughout the book which is very unfortunate. Seriously, if you are going to write about Super Metroid, it demands perfection as the game is perfection, and the lack of a spell check is very sloppy and unprofessional. I really wanted to like this book but I simply cannot recommend it due to these facts, I would say for you to rather go and buy the Official one!

About the Author

Hardie Gramatky was born in Dallas, TX, in 1907 but moved to California as a small boy after his father died of tuberculosis. He attended Stanford University (earning the tuition by working as a logger and a bank teller) and Chouinard Art Institute before becoming one of Disney’s early animators in 1929. In the 1920s and `30s, he helped start the California Watercolor movement. In 1936, after a 6-year Disney contract expired, he left the company (earning $150 a week, a huge sum in the Depression) to move to New York City with his wife, artist Dorothea Cooke, to become illustrators. It was there, in his studio on Pearl Street, that Gramatky saw a Moran tugboat out his window that obviously didn’t want to work and kept making figure 8s on the East River. So in 1939 after painting many watercolors of the busy harbor, Gramatky wondered what would happen if a “tug didn’t want to tug” and wrote the story. The book got immediate attention and has been a favorite picture book ever since, and Gramatky’s fine art watercolors and giclée prints continue to be prized. He died of cancer of the ileum in Westport, Connecticut, on April 29, 1979.

This is in reference to the 9th edition. The content of the chapters is clear enough to understand and use for learning, but as it is a textbook for the course I'm taking, the assignments are from the book. This wasn't an issue until chapter 5 where the Programming Challenges expect that you will go to the Companion website and download the source code. The catch is that there is no source code on the companion site, thus making it impossible to complete the assignments as written.The preface states that the source code for all the chapters will be available under student resources on the companion site, but this is a lie. I called Pearson support, and after 30 minutes of investigation they were able to inform me that source code is not available for the 9th edition, because the author did not provide it. I'm giving it three stars on the basis of it being a pricey text book, but failing to provide the necessary resources to complete the assignments.

The textbook itself gets five starts. It does a great job of teaching a beginner programmer. Some of the chapters do seem to reiterate some topics more times than necessary, but perhaps that's the author choosing to err on the side of caution to make sure certain teaching points stick.Taking online courses for my degree, I read this book pretty much from cover to cover. The book teaches to the beginner without being condescending. It is very well written with a lot of good examples, charts, figures, tables, etc. and tons of review questions throughout each chapter and yet more questions as well as "programming challenges" at the end of each chapter that give you a chance to apply what you've learned.Having said that, Amazon only gets three stars on this book. If you buy the Kindle version, please note that it is NOT the same as the full print version provided by the link on the full print version's page. This Kindle "Brief Version" has some 200 fewer pages than the actual print version. Having seen the print version's table of contents, I noted that the chapters missing from the Kindle version include the following topics: Exceptions, Linked Lists, Stacks, Queues, Recursion, and Binary Trees. Therefore, if you're a computer science major, you probably want to go ahead and buy the full print version.Had the Kindle version contained the last five chapters as I initially expected, it would get five stars. Now I know to verify Amazon's links by comparing the ISBN and page counts prior to buying a Kindle version. Live and learn...

This book is excellent, but some text is difficult to read... "then press the key on the keyboard" where the text of the icon is too small to read. Use the online version instead of the printed version if your eyesight isn't excellent.As a college instructor, I strongly recommend both reading the text and doing the hands-on exercises, coding along with the text. The publisher, Pearson, also has a website with videos you can use if you get stuck. Very good. Typically, students miss an instruction as they are reading, so consider using a ruler to keep your focus. Use undo or go back to a previous version or start over if you have problems, or watch the videos and do the exercise along with the video.Chegg online has written answers to this book, and the back of the book has Review answers. Check your answers for complete comprehension.Once you are completely done with the book, but only after you have done all of it, text and hands on, then sign up for Microsoft Dev Essentials to get free time on Pluralsight.com which provides a test on most subjects to find out where you are between Novice and Expert. Don't waste your money and time on Pluralsight before you complete the book, you can't do two things at the same time.The book will give you a solid foundation, but probably not enough to get a job... remember, this book is called "Starting Out with...". Wish there was an advanced book to read after this. There is a lot more to learn. Go to Pluralsight and look at the prerequisites for what you want to learn to see all that you still need to learn, but wait until you finish this book first. You need a good foundation and this book is the easiest way to accomplish that.Download Visual Studio Community edition, free and required for this course and really excellent - the book will walk you through this. Don't worry that you are downloading a newer version than the book, Microsoft adds excellent things you will want to have, but seldom gets rid of past features of Visual Studio, so it will be easy to follow along with the book. If you are going to continue in your C# adventure you will probably want to keep this book. So take notes in it, and add notes on features you find in Visual Studio that the book doesn't cover. Visual Studio and C# have been out a long time, and major updates are out every two years, 2019 is the next, and minor revisions are already available for this 2017 version.Best of luck in your C# adventure! It's lots of fun!!! and a top notch product together with Visual Studio. We're so lucky that both are free, and have such a great book to learn them. Enjoy!

This is an excellent book if you are new to C++ or even if you have some prior programming experience. It covers numerous topics and a lot of the information can be generalized to other programming languages as well.My one major complaint is that the author/publisher have only made the appendices and extra materials available for 6 months with a special online code, only one of which comes with the book. If you need a new code, you have to spend upwards of $20 for it. In case you purchase a used copy of this book, the code will likely already have been used. Isn't the point of buying a book so that you get all of the information in one place without having to pay ANOTHER $20 for a new code which only works for a limited time? Limited time literature, seriously? Stupid.
